3D Tracked Motion Graphics for Real Estate

A benefit of 3D motion tracking a shot is the ability to add motion graphics or other visual elements virtually anywhere. Depending on the accuracy of the track, the element will sync with the movement of the environment as if it was shot that way.
It’s essentially the same technology that social apps like Snapchat and Instagram utilize to overlay face filters that seemingly stick to your face in real-time.
For large format video, resolutions up to 6K can be tracked with .01 pixel accuracy. The resulting super accurate data mitigates any “drift” when compositing elements. Drift is when an element or filter moves out of sync with the footage thus breaking the illusion that element is real. Of course, there are many other factors besides an accurate track that will make for a convincing result. Often motion blur, color correction, and masking are done to further blend those elements.

This is a powerful too that can also add or remove unwanted objects from a shot. It’s especially great for surveying land or real estate, where it’s beneficial to overlay measurements or dimensions of a property or interior of a home.

In this example, you can see how well aerial footage can be tracked for this specific purpose.
