The Reboli Center

I was asked to shoot a quick interview with for the Reboli Center in Stony Brook Village with founder Lois Reboli and local congressman Steven Englebright. Long before the Reboli Center was an artistic cultural establishment, the building had originally operated as a bank for over 100 years.
When scouting a potential location to showcase her husband, Joseph Reboli’s paintings — Lois consulted with congressman Englebright to discuss a possible acquisition. Englebright himself, said he’s always been fond of the building and it’s contribution to Stony Brook’s history and so, felt it necessary to make the Reboli Center a reality.

I’ve worked with Lois many times and considering a tight schedule and budget, I do the best I can given the constraints. For this shoot, I came with 2 Blackmagic pocket 6K camera’s, a Lark-150 wireless mic set, and a DJI RS2 gimbal. In regards to shooting constraints at the center, I always utilize natural lighting as setting up additional lights and modifiers are not feasible.
The original interview ran well over an hour and so I cut a lot of discussion that deviated from the topic at hand, as well as any hiccups or stutters. Overall, I wish I had the opportunity to utilize additional lighting, more time to better establish camera composition, and better placement of the lav mics.
I produce a lot of content week in and out, but not every production can utilize all of the cinematic bells and whistles. It’s a delicate balance of time/quality— something I’ve learned over many years in managing productions big and small.

Most of the work went in editing as opposed to setup & shooting due to time constraints
